Justifiably Condescending Ashley Williams, Part Two

I found a better screenshot in my folder, and with VS Appreciation week… it seemed to be perfect timing.

In case it needs to be said, I am NOT hating on Tali. It was a flaw of hers, but that’s okay, characters need to have flaws. It’s just as dismissive of her character to say she’s innocent, just as it is saying Ashley is racist. I am only against the ongoing idea that Ashley’s flaws are the only ones that are unforgivable.

A part three is very likely. After all, we haven’t even touched the oh-so-illuminating criticisms she gets for Horizon and Mars!

Wow, you are just all over the place with the “bitch” slur, aren’t you? But let’s get some things straight:

In ME1, Cerberus was responsible for killing an Alliance Admiral, running tests on Thorian Creepers and Rachni that eventually led to casualties, and were recognized as a black ops program gone rogue. In the Shadow Broker files, you learn that they even assassinated a pope for his pro-alien tendencies. These people are terrorists, who’ve committed multiple assassinations and deal in completely unethical testings.

It is perfectly reasonable for Ashley to not trust you. Even then, that confrontation on Horizon? She was sent there because the Alliance told her that they believed Cerberus was involved. She thought they attacked Horizon, then you show up and tell her that you’re working with Cerberus. What is she supposed to think, especially after the adrenaline rush and fear that comes with nearly dying? You just told her you work with terrorists!

And what’s even better, is that she apologizes for what happens after Cerberus.She tells you she understands why you need to work with them, but she can’t join you. However, after uniting again and seeing what happened on Mars, and seeing that their soldiers were implanted? After they had complete control over your body for two years while you were dead? Yeah, it makes sense to start questioning whether or not this is really you or not. Because it’s pretty fucking hard to accept that the person you watched die on the Normandy is back from the dead. It’s even harder to get to know that person after spending three years apart from them.

And it’s funny because Engineer Adams gives you the same reasons as to why he didn’t assist you in Cerberus either, yet you never hear anyone complain about him.
